I was reading my local "alternative" newspaper this afternoon, and it had a review/preview of the stand up show that will be here in 2 weeks "starring" Kathy Griffin. I was amazed that tickets were selling for a MINIMUM of $50, plus whatever fees there might be. I mean, she is kind of funny, but I must be out of touch with reality because I can't believe she might be worth MORE than $50 and as much as $80.
Comedy is expensive. The club has to pay the comedians and still make a buck.
I certainly wouldn't pay to see Kathy Griffin do anything beyond fall down a long flight of stairs.

Oh and I still believe Andy Dick and Kathy Griffin are the same person:
I saw her a couple years ago, totally worth the $60 price of admission IMO, but I like her brand of humor.
Another club in the area has Bob Goldwaithe (sp?) on the bill...tickets are $20 to $25. I like Ms. Griffin enough to watch her on tv, but is she really worth 3 or 4 times what Bob Cat Goldwaithe is getting?

And where is Bobcat Goldthwait going to be appearing? I'm totally in for that.
That seems steep. Two weeks ago I saw Gabriel Iglasias at the egg for $37.50, and he's much funnier. The most I ever paid to see a comedian was about $70 to see Lewis Black but I was in the front at a small theater and he is about the funniest person I've ever seen live. I wouldn't pay more than $30 to see Kathy Griffin torn apart by rabid kittens.
I've noticed that as well. How does it cost more to see a comedienne, than it does to go see a rock show?
The last concert I went to was in January, $80 to see Ozzy and Slash. Or $80 to see....................Kathy Griffin?
Not sure how the math works on that one.
Lady Gaga in Columbus OH was $52.50, $88 and $178. In a basketball arena, not a small theater.

This. The last concert I saw was Van Halen in 1984. I think the tickets were $12.50. I would have loved to see the Eagles the last time they were local but the tickets were $120. I've got better things to spend the money on.
I'm paying close to $600 for 4 tickets to take the Wife and kids to see Glee! live, for relatively crappy seats too. I'm just thinking of it as the price of admission to the bedroom 
I'll tell you this now, I wish I would have been able to see George Carlin while he was still alive. I'm not so sure his standup would be any darker now, though.

That was when a band toured to support their record. Now with the proliferation of digital recording /copying, the CD supports the live show. That's where the money is now.

I love all you old fogies that think a 1984 Van Halen show, that was little more than a bunch of Marshall cabinets, smoke machines and cheap can lights................should not only be unaffected by inflation, but also completely ignore all the stuff in modern shows they didn't have back then.
TOOL's lightshow was worth everybit of the $90 I paid for TWO tickets. And I would gladly 2-3x that to see TOOL again.
It's really amazing what big fuddy-duddy's some of you guys are.

We paid money to see a band play music, and we got what we paid for. If you want to see a fancy light show and listen to some wannabe musicians play a montage of digital samples from when they used to make real music, well that's fine with me! 
I understand it when you have a band, truckloads of equipment, support staff, ect. For one person to show up at Ziggy's Chukle Hut for a couple hours should be a bit cheaper.
My god, Tool is a E36 M3ty band.
