I've been looking for a cheap but reliable automotive appliance for my step-son recently, and have been getting frustrated with the results(too expensive for the condition and/or too beat for the price). However, today I checked out a mid-90's Corolla with 250kmi that runs/drives fine, has a partial maintenance history, and won't need much of my attention for the foreseeable future. Price is $1850.00.
Sound like a reasonable deal???
For comparison's sake, here are the recent ones I've looked at/into:
'97 Aspire, 170kmi, $2200. Sold before I got there.
'00 Cavalier with 160kmi and rebuilt title, $3300. I passed due to the rebuilt title, crappy respray, and cracked dash(looked like accident damage).
'01 Focus with 180kmi, $2700. Overall beat to crap, bald tires, bare metal on the body in places, didn't look like it would make it around the block(battery was dead & had a flat tire, so I didn't bother driving it).
I'm sure that gas prices hovering around and just under $4/gal have people clamouring for cheap, economical transportation, but this seems worse than when CFC was in effect.
