Calling all long haired hippies

Hey guys, my hair is getting fairly unruly.  Too long to stay out of my eyes, too short to tie it back with something.  I also need to hold it back cause sweat drips off it and gets on whatever I'm working on and has almost caused me to say some four letter words recently.

I don't generally like baseball caps or visors, so lately I've taken to stealing my wife's hair band things.  I look cute as hell, but its not the best look if I need to run to the hardware store.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can use to keep the hair out of the way?

I can't wait till its long enough to have a man-bun.  Those are the height of fashion.

Bandana.

Cool towels. Definitely like these mixed with a hat. They absorb the sweat but evaporation helps keep you cool.

Problem with a bandana is that I have a MASSIVE noggin.  Last few times I tried one I couldn't get one to fit, add in the mass of hair (thick, luxuriously thick, thick enough my wife and her friends hate it and have said so to my face) and elastic or something large sized is almost necessary 

How about a regular sweat band?

Im in a similar situation and am a big fan of the Buff multifunctional head wrap thingy.  Ive tried to other brands and they didn't seem to stay in place as well. Im wearing one now!

I had to to start using a hair band when my hair got wrapped around the creeper wheel & I was stuck under the car a few minutes trying to free myself. 

A beanie may be another option for you. Though I find that if I'm already hot & sweaty the last thing I want is something on my head.

I bought my own hair bands. Always wanted to try long hair, but couldn't dare while working as a mechanic. Now I teach and I don't care what people think! 

I also have a giant knoggin. You can buy bigger bandannas and they work great. But now I would also second the thing logdog posted. Since pandemic thingy I have tried one and found them very useful.

Even after my hair got too thin to continue being in denial, and I cut the ponytail off, I still prefer something to keep the sweat from rollin down my face. The multi use ones from above, will do in a pinch, even for bowling ball heads. But as the case with a lot of universal stuff, they do not excel at doing just one thing, if thats all ya need.

I prefer ones with built in sweat bands, but can be hard to find decent quality. Most these days only have the band sewed at the bottom, so it tries to bunch up. I have not tried the above - just found it on a super quick search for you - but I plan to. The stretchy, breathable material should help.

I ridin' partner for many years, had a basketball stuck on his shoulders... roundest head I've ever seen. He found cutting a 100% cotton tee shirt into a square, and tying it like a bandana was the only way the would stay on his head in stated with no helmet law ( not promoting that, btw.)

This one is the stretchy breathable material, and has a quality head band, but has elastic across the back, inside the tie your own parts. Only problem the elastic it 10 times too tight! I have not gotten mad enough at them to cut it out yet, 'c cause that will require some sewing, and neither my wife nor I really want to mess with that.

Wally world use to have some ok ones for a decent price, but the ones round here no longer stock any. The HD stealership will have some good ones, if you can afford to pay for all the glass and chrome and display's... (sorry... I'll stop) But the do have good quality, and prolly make some big ones, till you can find a reasonably priced source.

Honestly, cause I forgot what the hell they were called.  I tried "hair band" and got a bunch of 80s rockers and pony tail elastic bands

From what I've read, Gorilla Glue is a bad idea.

To be clear, I'm not against manbuns per se, I just think if you're wearing one, you should be prepared to fight to the death to defend the honor of . . . well somebody.  Most current adherents don't appear to meet that criteria.  If you're a total badass, I say, "carry on".

I have a pretty big head too.  Bandanas are hard to tie in a big enough loop for me.

So make your own.  I'm not talking about scissors and a sewing machine, I'm saying - lay out a bandana on an old Tshirt, flour sack dish rag, or other random piece of fabric.   Woven fabrics work best, but knits work too.    Add an inch or two to the bandana's size in each direction and rip a square.  Tie it, done.

I forgot to take bandanas with me camping last summer, so I just grabbed an old shirt and ripped it into a square.

I don't personally dig Hobby Lobby, but they have thousands of pre-cut bandanas that are a bit larger than normal.  Actually too big for my head.  Usually about $1 each.

I always wore a hat. Welders cap is a nice touch too. 

Be patient and wait a few years for it to fall out.

I very likely do not get that option.  The only men in the family that are bald/balding married in.  Hell, my one uncle on my mom's side had more black hair than grey or white when he was in his 70s.
