Parts Express used to have a sealed box sub kit you could build. I bought that with their Titanic 12" sub and a 250W amp and it hits hard, and clean.

It appears they only have one kit now. It's an 8" kit that reaches 30hz and costs $300
Edit: At least a powered knockdown kit. There was one other 6.5" powered kit designed as a computer sub with power for the satellites as well. Plenty of $500-700 non powered kits.

Okay. After not really having luck on FB Market or Ebay... and a bit more research into brands. I'm pretty well decided that I'm just going to go with the Rythmik L12.
Good reputation as a very "musical" sub. Better to buy good once than to buy something inferior twice.
