How did your first week at the new job turn out?
In reply to 759NRNG :
It sits right in my gut. Im happier than I have been in years, and no longer dread days ending in Y. I even have found that I can actually give a E36 M3 about people again already!
Im feeling confident that i can pull this off and make a decent salesman, but have a hell of a learning curve ahead of me. Have to find my groove, learn product, get organized, and rebuild the territory.
But i know i can do it. I have faith and know how to get my ass in gear when i need to.
An old timer once told me:
Faith of a mustard seed can move a mountain. However you damn well better bring your shovel and wheelbarrow.
Ive got my shovel and wheelbarrow.
I'm happy for you. Guts and determination will prevail. My daughter just got a new job. She's back doing hands on nursing. I can see the difference in her.
Almost a month in.
Im finally organized, which is huge. Apparently im the first guy they have had in a long time that hot it this hard out of the gate, and the most organized one.
Im starting to learn the marathon of getting past secretaries. Still lots more to learn there.
Ive successfully brought back multiple accounts already, and this week got my first fresh customer. With 10 motors, two gearboxes, and a stack of po's.
Im still digging it! Some days are just frustrating though, like yesterday where i never got past a single secretary, and most of my pre-planned existing accounts were closed.

Glad you're digging it.
Maybe bring the admin assistants some sort of small thing. Post it notes, a few chocolates, whatever.
You've got to incorporate gently slapping some product or flyer and saying something like: "This (thing, motor, gearbox) does (amazing things).
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :
They way through the secretaries is to talk to them. Learn their names. Be friendly, on the phone and in person. Ask about their days and families and listen to the answers.
I'm glad to hear it's going better for you.
