So, apparently I suck at writing for sale ad's. Well, at least I think I do?

I listed a 96 Honda Integra for sale about a week ago,and despite generating views it's basically getting zero interest... Even from the usual low ball brigade.

I feel like it's mostly down to how I've listed it, although I do realize that selling a 20+ year old car with a laundry list of modifications can take a bit of time.

Here's the Ad in question. Any feedback or recommendations would be welcome.

I'm looking to list it in a few more places over the next day or two and wold like to get my format in order before I do.

I’m not sure what buyers are like down/over there, but in the US typically for non-enthusiast sites posting as little details as possible will generate the most interest.

Think of it this way: the point of the ad isn’t to answer potential buyers’ questions, it’s to make them ask questions - then they’ll have a reason to contact you.

I've found the opposite. The more I'm armed with, the happier I am. And that's not as an enthusiast. I bought a 4 man tent. The seller had multiple picture of the tent, erected and stored, a pic of the receipt, etc... I knew I wasn't buying a turd before I even contacted him.

I'd include any things I've replaced, last oil change, tire condition, anything to make the viewer comfortable. How would an old man describe the car? I'd bet that people are thinking it was wailed on by a punk kid for 200,000km the way the ad looks now.

Awesome looking Honda, by the way. That thing would be gone in 5 seconds here in the States.

When I click on that ad, all I see is the first line plus "Tein coilovers," which is 3 or 4 spaces down.  I had to figure out the existence and purpose of the turquoise "+" sign to see the rest of the description – which, with all due respect to Pete G., I thought was very helpful.  (But I'm absolutely sure he's bought & sold way more cars than I have, so there's that.)

If the ad template is what it is, then maybe (1) pull up a space after the first line, and then (2) change to a paragraph-style list instead of a vertical one so that you can keep the eyeballs long enough to get some interest.  Maybe group the stuff in categories like Chassis, Transmission, or whatever, with bold-face category names if they let you do that.  (Or capitals if they don't.)

GLWS, as they say.

I hear what you're saying, and it makes sense to a degree. I guess I wanted to try and avoid answering redundant questions and show some value. I also kind of listed it like what I'd want to see when looking for a modded car.

Funny thing is, I'd been dreading listing it because of the kind of buyers I expected it to attract, so the lack of response from even the Tyre kicking/low-ball crowd has been suprising

Your target buyer is an enthusiast like all of us, but that doesn’t appear to be an enthusiast-oriented site, and non-enthusiasts typically don’t car shop like we do. At least here in the US anyway.

I was aiming to get as much clear info out there as I could without the "never driven hard", "mature owner", "regretful sale" kind of wording as most usually read that, then assume the opposite. Sounds kind of used car salesman "little old lady only drove it to church on Sundays" speak. But I can definitely agree with the need to try and create a perception that it hasn't been completely 'flogged'.

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words, it's been an awesome car, and will legitimately be a regretful sale. The old time money space and life priorities strike again haha.

I'll look at how it's displaying that first section and posiposs restructure it a little so it becomes more obvious that there's more below. That said, most buyers on that side would be reasonably aware of the expansion function.

Grouping the information so it's a little easier to digest is a fair point. I walked around the car with a notepad writing down stuff as I remembered what's been done to it.

Thanks, at the moment it feels like I need it

In reply to Pete Gossett :

I'd prefer it went to an enthusiast, and feel that's probably my most likely buyer, but I don't want to freeze non enthusiasts out either.

I'm looking to list elsewhere in addition to where it is now. I may have to enlist a mate to get it up on Facebook because I'm a cranky old man. Because it's a smaller market over here usually car guys will scour anywhere that's got cars listed if they're searching for something in particular. I guess I need to make it appeal to more than the handful of people who want a dc2 integra

See where the first digit of the odometer is a 3?  Even in metricland, that number just sucks all the air out of the room.

Just keep the ad up.  Somebody will eventually get past that.

Not being registered seems like a big negative, there are a few others for a similar price that look like they still have the original paint, and could be driven home.  Is there any way to get higher resolution pictures too?  Or is it just the site that compresses them so much.

Yes, it kinda does, good point. I might shift where in the ad that appears, give the good news first.

No rego won't be helping it any, agreed. Price may be an issue if I want it gone quick.

I think the photos are compressed by the site.
