I was speaking of the thread starter's house, not yours Mguar.
We were pleasantly surprised when we went to closing and saw the final price. $175k. Not bad. I'm still trying to finish up all the surround sound stuff though. LOL

We are spending about $170k on this new construction home and it's exactly how we want it. If we had the means to spend $250k, we could have built damn near a mansion here. That's how much the people spent on the other house and it's friggin impressive!
I wish I lived in your world, your house with a basement here is $350k to $400k. The cheapest honest to god house you can buy brand new in Alberta is right around $300k on the outskirts of a city, an acreage of any sort would still run $400k with the minimal of houses on it, and it looks NOTHING like yours
And 1.5 acres anywhere here is going to run you at least $50k+ (in the right location, more like $230k).
Before our house was built, the tax appraiser had our property of 47 acres with 2 ponds (stock tanks as we call them) and the old mobile home valued at $155k. Property values here are pretty low, also we live in the middle of friggin' nowhere!
Great post. I have heard about post tensioned slabs in Texas, never actually saw one.
How are the utility bills with that big heat pump, compared with the trailer?

1300 sq ft Trailer bills - $300 per month for electricity
1904 sq ft House bills - $170 per month for electricity

Wow, they all did dissappear... Guess I have to relink them all from Facebook... I sent you a reply email, did you get it?
Zombie thread alert... Just relinked all the pix. Was fun reliving the construction of our home. We've been in it almost 2 years now. Almost time for me to start planning the shop...
Nice. Stopped over in Brownwood while I lived in Austin. Charming little town. I ate lunch at Underwoods!

Underwoods is in the corner of the parking lot for my Ford dealership. Not MINE, but the one I work at. LOL How long ago were you here?

That's when I moved up here from Austin. Got married in August 2008 and she moved me up here.

I love that area of the country. Would have loved to have stayed there. Moved out from NC to take my first "real" job in January of 2008 and it was the best year of my life. Unfortunately the economic downturn affected my job and I was shipped to El Paso. I then moved on to Pittsburgh in 2009 and met my wife here. Like it here a lot, but it's not Texas.
