There's a dealer that advertises on my local CL. This dealer is a post whore of major proportions.
I've reported them many times and nothing changes. In the link below, virtually every ad links to the same freaking car. They do it with all their other cars too. Is there anything I can do? It's really aggravating when you are looking for a car and this crap fills up the screen.
CL link
The San Diego Craigslist is so broken its unbelievable. We have dealers from other states spam blasting in cars, a dealer in Hollywood who much put 400+ ads a day up for the same 10 cars they have been trying to sell for year.
I hereby put craigslist on notice. I will come over and fix your stupid coding. Plus add a year search function and automatic redundant ad removal. And for the stupid low price of free I will find a way to zap any ad that originates or has a phone number from a outside area code.

If I was Craig, I'd take you up on that.
Does flagging do any good? Doesn't seem to.
Eat a ton of asparagus and beets, then experience incontinence in any car listed more than twice in a week.

Not really it takes to many flag's to kill an ad.
Though I wonder if I could offline my process. Would not take to much to spoof the system into thinking that flags were coming from multiple computers then its just a bit of mix and match code for redundant ad's and phone number searching to make sure that the phone code matches the area. It would be like bombing them from space with fire instead of a proper fix.
Something tells me it would just cause more problems then it fixes.
Ohh Weary'sList. All the ad's of craigslist, non of the stupid crap, with a couple ads for my hosting costs and race season. .
I live in Jacksonville, Fl. We have a fairly healthy car market here, yet dealers from as far away as MIAMI insist on posting here. They don't post on Daytona's CL tho. Is there no one in Miami buying cars anymore that you must expand your customer search for more than 400 miles? This is akin to a San Francisco dealer advertising in SAN DIEGO. And no, we aren't talking about a dealer for rare exoctic cars, either, but Nissans, and Fords (BTW, this same dealer "pops up" on my googleads here at GRM).
I also believe that dealers should just post links to their "lot" instead of listing EVERY darn car they have ever had in inventory.
So yeah, I agree, if the folks (dealers or private owners) even try to list from outside the area code confines...they need to be "bounced".
I just flagged every one of the ads in OP.
I feel like a superhero.

If I could afford the inevitable lawsuit I would. I don't think "make the world a better place for car guys" so I ripped off all your data and submissions counts as a defense.
Its up there with using the old "I forgot armed robbery was illegal" defense so popular in the 70's.
In reply to 92CelicaHalfTrac:
I did that every day for a week and nothing changed. The dealer doesn't have an email link in their ad, but I found one in one of their Auto Trader ads. I told them there's no way I'd consider buying a car from them because of the way they whore up CL. Of course, that didn't change anything either.

I hate all the big-bling wheel ads that show up in Cars for sale. I flag every car part and trailer that shows up in my car searches.
I also flag car ads that have more key words than car description. Your non-running, almost finished SR20DET swapped 240SX has nothing to do with my search for "Regal", "Cutlass" or "dodge diesel".
Are you searching the CL listings from owners only. There is a separate search option of listings from dealers.
Personally, I only look at the "owner" listings which is where the cheap stuff is at.
