I'm confused......I typed in '63 corvette and found 2 listed. Otherwise it took me to a main listing thread.
You might want to be a bit more specific. I see 70 instances of "vette" on that screen.... and its a LONG list.
(e.g. What the hell are you referring to!?)
Yeah, I think I'd leave that out in the snow, too...
No I wouldn't. I'd send it to Barrett-Jackson. Surely someone there has more money than taste.
This just sold for $270,000.
It belonged to Linda Vaughn, and it was sold for charity, but still. $270k for a 79 Oldsmobile!
edit because brain fart
When they brought Gene Simmons in to talk up a 50s F100 going across the block I knew they'd officially jumped the shark. Yeah, I know it was a charity vehicle but WTF do his mindless comments add? Generally when I see his mug or hear his voice I immediately change the channel.
Jeff
They do stuff like that all the time with charity cars. Once bidding stalls out they stop the auction to tell you how amazing the car is and how it's worth more, and they throw in some freebies. Back when Shelby was alive and auctioning off a ton of stuff for charity (which was good of him), they'd offer to throw in his hat and then maybe his original heart. Again, it's for charity, so I don't want to sound like too much of a scrooge, but it really got old fast.
I do agree they drag the charity cars out too long, and often there are a lot of bidders with more money than brains. But I could care less, I enjoy checking out the cars.
When I look at Vettes like that one, at first I cringe and then I remember reading car magazines in the 70's and 80's when these cars weren't really worth anything and being fiberglass, were popular customization platforms. I'm sure these cars were modified 20-30 years ago. Most were buried away in garages for years and since original cars are now worth silly amounts of money, they're starting to come out.
They are products of their time, for better or worse.
