I know it's a painting, but it looks a bit like the plane is in the wake of a ship or boat. That is reminiscent of the procedure for recovering spotter planes (not only for searching, but for spotting the landing location of shells) for battleships and cruisers. When recovering in the open ocean they would make a turn, which would smooth out the water inside the turn, making it much easier on the spotter planes landing. You can see below the difference in the sea state both inside and outside the turn below. In this case, since they appear to be launching, it looks like they may just be turning to put the launch into the wind. Or they might be recovering the other Kingfisher, which is clearly out on patrol already.

re: Gordon Keeble, it is the classic story of what could have, should have. Giorgetto Giugiaro and a 327 Chevy put together in England. What could possibly, um go right???
I can't find the video where there's a stock 4 wheeler with more power, heavier, faster 0-60, quarter mile, and top speed than a classic mini.
USS San Francisco "after it ran aground 350 miles south of Guam". My ass, aground would be at the bottom, this is a glancing blow above the belt line.

What a great idea - take one of the most beautiful cars ever made and paint it the dullest color ever imagined.
I hesitate to post this, well; you know. But I have a variable pitch prop with a broken tip if that helps.
