Why can't we get some cooler smiley faces?
Datsun 311.org has a cool one called "Tosser" that violently spews liquid out. Can't we upgrade that end of our GRM Forum?

The only smiley I think worth adding would be a canoe. I can't stand forums with two to the power of ten smiley options vomiting, waving and machine gunning themselves over any useful content.
I use the shrug quite a bit on another board.
I agree that these smilies are a bit limiting, but somehow I get by. (this is where the shrug would be inserted)
One of the things I like best about this board is the limited amount of smileys, it forces people to use their writing skills to get their point across On a lot of other boards they seem to think that putting 50 dancing bananas in their posts is funny, but it's just annoying.
the only one I'd like to see added would be an "oops/embarrassed" smiley....
there have been and probably will be many times when it would be appropriate for some of my posts .... like now maybe....
If you have a burning desire for the smiley d'jour, hotlinking is your answer.
I tend to prefer real words. If it's super important and there's a groundswell of "OMG gotta have it" I'm sure we'll reconsider, but there are bigger internet fish to fry. (Like stability, canoe-proofing, and content creation.)
I'm not saying no, just that it's not at the top of the list.
Strike is interesting. Never heard anyone ask for it before, but it would be kinda handy. Probably wouldn't be any harder to do than the existing bold and italic.
Smilies are a PITA. Not the code, that's pretty straightforward. It's finding decent quality images that don't look amateurish. And no matter how many you have, somebody whines because you don't have that one they want with the pink pony and cowboy hat.
The "strike" tag certainly makes FTFY posts better. but I have to say we don't really need more smilies. Though with the average age of the users here we could probably survive the onslaught.
@ Jay: what's so bad about vBulletin?
