My 2009 Jetta comes with 16" steel wheels which I replaced with 18" mags. (OK, they're not magnesium). It's also been lowered 2" with progressive springs.

For the most part I like it but the other person that drives the car just can't seem to dodge potholes, go around obstacles or stay off curbs. My alignment is whacked and the front wheels have been planked pretty good more than once.

I like the looks of the new Beetle wheels, small chrome center cap and outer ring on body colored steelies. Unfortunately they are ~$400 each.

Where would I look for 5 X 112, 16 - 17" steelies that can accept baby moons? Tire Rack is a no go.

Thanks.

I don't know for FWD stuff - I know Coker Tire has tons of that stuff in all kinds of sizes for RWD, but it's often not cheap. I'd check them out.

I like those too and think they would be terrific on a Sportwagen. I don't think they are steel, however.

Old beetles had spring clips that held the dog dish hubcaps. I'm thinking these could be welded or riveted to most any readily available steel wheel without too much trouble.

hmmm....I may have to look into this for my Grand Am. Currently it's all black with black steelies. I ditched the crappy gm wheel covers.

Maybe try to find some new beetle wheels take offs or try to find somebody with those wheels to swap wheels with.

Wheel vintiques makes steel smoothies in fwd offsets and has caps and beauty rings available.
