The ole point n shoot is dead. Zoom is good, fast shots are better, budget is important. Current cam is SD1400IS.

I don't know that model, but I like canon cameras. I've got a little underwater canon like this Most of my build photos were taken with that camera, too.

I'm a Nikon guy when it comes to DSLRs, but for point and shoot I ALWAYS buy Canon. They make awesome little cameras.

My current small camera is very similar to the one you posted. We love it.

I have a six year old Panasonic (Lumix FX9). Only 6MP, but I've gotten better photo results from that Lumix than nearly everything else I've come in contact with (Sony and Canon). The Leica glass and Panasonic image stabilization are legit.

Can't say enough good things about Panasonic as a brand, especially their cameras. I have the TS3 which is an underwater/tough camera and it takes great pictures! I did have an issue with my old TS2, if left out in the sun it would fog up a little (condensation from previous dives). I called up Panasonic, showed them a copy of my receipt and they sent me a brand new TS3 (next model up), pretty much no questions asked. Previous camera was a Canon DSLR. Soon I will be investing in some sort of advanced point and shoot and Panasonic will be getting the first look.

That being said, I don't know much about that particular Panasonic you mentioned.
