Has anyone here exported cars to be resold in another counrty?
A buddy from Asia just pinged me to see if I could help out with his business idea. Seems like a decent idea, I'm just hung up on some details.
I would just be in charge of finding, buying, and getting it to port. But I have a feeling it's a lot more complicated than that. If you've had any experience in this, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

This would be used cars only.

I don't know but am interested in answers as well. I'm relatively close to a port and have the ability to hold inventory...

Guess you need to define the partnership responsibilities and profits.
If the person in China has an agent at the stateside port, all you need to do is drop the car off and collect the finder/buyer fee Agent takes it from there and Chinese friend pays agent.
If you are expected to stick handle the stateside paperwork or even manage the agent, then account for that time and overhead also. Are you on the hook to provide some defined number of cars/month or some other time constant?
Who is responsible for any lemons that show up in the received goods?
I doubt there would be a whole lot of American paperwork, other than ensuring the vehicles clear title is in the proper hands at customs four days before the car is to leave the country.
The tricky paper would be at the other end.
