Weather is getting better around here, so I have gotten to thinking...... Maybe its just me wanting another project, who knows. I have a 2000 MR2 Build ish thread, it runs, it drives, it does car stuff, its nice to drive with the top down, but its just meh.  I can't take it to the track as it needs a roll bar to be legal, AutoX is ok, but long ass drive for a few mins of runs (IMO),  HDPE sounds like a lot more fun (although I have zero experience there).

I feel like I want something more absurd, make me giggle when it drive it etc. Caged mini truck with a turbo LS? Volvo with a big turbo (still a little sour on not buying the one on BAT I had my eye on....)? 500HP Street legal dune buggy (Looks like a blast)?

Or maybe I should look into putting more money into the MR2? K20 or V6 swap's have been done, I know it supposed to handle well.... There is a roll hoop available, but its stupidly hard to install and $$$. Maybe DIY cage? But will a little more HP make it silly enough?

Whatever it is will probably still just be a fun summer driver, not really sure the MR2 is worth much if I sell it, being salvage, and DIY repaired (under the deck lid does not look pretty, but its functional and the chassis is straight).

Thoughts anyone?

If you don't love the mr2, sell it. No use persevering if you don't love it.

If you do sell, let us know!

Its fun to drive, but its just not "stupid" if that makes sense.... Maybe I need to make a 400hp (300? ) mr2, its just not a chassis that is easy to do it in it seems. The engine bay is SMALL.  I will definitely be posting it here first if it goes that way.

Swap you the Vette for the MR2?

Edit: of course I just realized we’re darn near on opposite corners of the US.

I love mini trucks and can't justify building one because I have 2 kids so I enjoy following those builds on here! S10 with 400 or so horsepower would be hilarious fun too me.

Yeah I think a taco would be a hoot (a little partial to Toyota I guess) only one kid, so I just need one other seat so I am pickup or drop off to school as needed.

I learned to drive in an 86 Toyota pickup. I like that bodystyle alot. Finding one around here that isn't rusted apart has pretty much removed them from my radar. Just about all late 80s early 90s mini truck would work!

I've been dreaming of things to stuff a turbo LS into lately and I've always wanted a Volvo 2/7/9xx wagon with a big turbo, so I could definitely condone either of those options. Better yet, stuff the turbo LS in the Volvo and leave it completely stock appearing on the outside...ultimate sleeper.

I am right there with you, my only issue with the Volvo Wagon is my mother drives one. I can't quite decide if I can get over that. If it made turbo noises and had a V-8 it would probably help though

This looks like a hoot. Getting it "street legal" might be entertaining in WA however. That's a 13B.

For the Mr2....

Turbo, intercooler, piping, pistons, rods, fuel pump, injectors and stand alone $6,089.....

That would be good for ~325whp

I am sure I could do it a bit cheaper piecing it all together myself, but there's something to be said about a kit that should fit. Sometimes having not much aftermarket support sucks.

That would probably be close to Triple the horsepower I currently have. Which should be good and entertaining in that car.

But, I think I still would want a cage.
