56 here. Missed that corvair question, the aston martin, bentley continental and the amc pacer.
57 for me. Missed the Aston, the Rolls, and somehow, the Bugatti. I got the Corvair because they were my favorite US car when I was a kid. My aunt had a `64 Corsa, and a family down the street had a Greenbriar. I'm gonna get me a 2nd gen one day..
Yaaaaa but... my brother had a Corvair, it sure as hell didn't look like that thing... which looked more like them half-Dodge-van-pickum-ups from the 70s....
53/60, though I hit Camaro when I meant Corvette ZO6 by accident. Saw "Chevrolet" and just clicked :p

GM concieved the Corvair as a US built alternative to the imports. Which at the time they were being designed (mid to late 1950s) meant VW. In addition to the 2dr and 4dr sedans, they also offered a station wagon (which VW did not at the time), and a "compact van". They thought there was a market for an American made microbus like the VW van (the Greenbriar). When the vans didn't sell well, they offered Pickups and panel trucks, hoping to get some fleet sales.
I noticed when I went searching for pics that I misspelled it..it's "Greenbrier".
And here's the pickup. This one's got that cool side ramp feature. I know the ramp's factory, but don't know if it was standard, or an option.
Isn't that cool, I'd never heard of it before. The green one's ugly in a pig-nose, hedgehog kinda way, but I like the little orange one.
