So we're visiting San Antonio in end of March-ish and I'm really bored with the available car rentals. (hyundai accent, chevy aveo... etc)
Why cant there be a place that rents "cool cars"? You know: rwd, makes a good noise, goes like stink? Does anyone have a "cool car" with seating for four they want to rent me for a week?
That is all.

i'm pretty sure the Hertz counter at the airport there carries the "fun collection" or "premium collection". at least they did last time i was there a couple years ago, they had vettes and mustangs. fwiw, the three sisters are nearby, great scenic/twisty fun drive through some pretty much ignored country.

heck! I forgot all about Hertz! I was looking at Alamo and Enterprise's websites and it went as far as "Mustangs" but that didn't "do it" for me. I wonder if they have an RX-8?
When we lived in SA on the occasional Sunday the wife and I would take my old RX-7 and go out to Bandera on hwy 16, eat at the "Old Spanish Trail" and cut over to I-10 (through Medina, and Kerrville) for the return trip. Some nice little twists and turns out there. Looks like I was missing a gem!
Ah, them's was the days
Hertz will rent you a Corvette. But it'll be automatic. Boo.
I paid more when I rented one from Hertz, but I still liked it.
Was a bit yellow, though.
Sorry, Corvettes have aged out of the Hertz fleet. They were a tired group at the end. There are some Camaros out there now, but like the Mustangs they are base cars.
Based on the hooning that folks do in Cobalts and such, it's no wonder that you can't rent fun cars. And they are all automatics. Did manage to snag a base MINI once, but it was also auto.
I may have found something: http://www.autoexoticrental.com/listcars.php?type_id=3
In reply to Hungary Bill:
The 50mi/day thing kills me. If I were driving something for 800+ a day you can bet it would be for more than 50 miles.
Though that R8 for a day or two would be great.
