Our elderly neighbors are long time residents who summer in VT. Due to a change in plans, they need to ship a car home. Timing is flexible as they have another car up there and I can receive the car on this end.
How do I go about helping them figure out a shipper? I've shipped a car a few times but it's always such a crapshoot that I'm very interested in advice!
I used a company called montway shipping. It was actually pretty painless. I paid a deposit upfront. They picked it up 0 hassle. Kept me updated daily during the transit and actually arrived early. Paid the remaining balance in cash. No damage. Great communication the whole way. And this was them picking up an auction car in Oregon and shipped to Pennsylvania.
I shipped two cars Fl-Vt using Intercity. Excellent experience and they do not use brokers, they have their own trucks. (800) 221-3936
I also know Woody shipped a car (maybe the targa 911 that ended up by you) using a shipper that would do a Vt-Fl route weekly. Might be worth a Pm to him.
edit: you might already have his number

Pro Tip: Put your business card on a magnet.

You're memory is better than mine! And I found the email from Woody from 2013!! :D
Calling the guy now...
I found this in my email from 2013: Four Seasons Auto Transport 802 751 0900. That phone number is out of service. Then I found this online. Does it sound like the same company?

That's the guy. He had also given me a business card with two numbers on it and said that one of the numbers was no longer used. That's probably the number listed above. I'll see if I can find that card.
Would they be willing to let someone drive it down? Some GRMer stuck in N FL heat might be willing to do a fly and drive just for the story. Just saying.

Frustratingly, when I sign into uShip, it doesn't actually display contact information for him. Just his profile.
How many days would it take driving scenic back roads through the Appalachians? I could be talked into it if I was closer.
