So, I'm really looking for an adventure, and I've thought of a way I might be able to help some of you guys out, and it will likely get me out of this funk I've been in for a while.
I would like to offer my services in transporting running cars to people that want them. The cars will need to be in drivable condition, and you'll have to have the paperwork set and have a paper tag for the car. It will only cost you what it costs to fly me to the car, fuel to get the car to you, and enough for incidentals ($50 is more than I could ever need) ans a way back home if you're not reasonable local.
I have a clean driving record, and I can provide a DMV report to anyone that wants one. I currently don't have a passport, so it has to be a car in the united states.
I have absolutely zero startup money, which is why I am willing to do this at zero profit to me. It may help me grow into a real business because it provides references and a good track record.
If there's anything you want and can't find the time to transport, I'm your guy. I'll carry a tool kit with me so I can fix anything that happens on the road. I don't have the equipment to tow anything at this time, but that will change if I see the business need for such an expenditure.
If the powers that be don't like this post, feel free to delete it. I do understand that while I offer this service pretty much free of charge, it is commercial in nature.
So if anyone wants something transported, it's a driveable vehicle, and you just don't have the time to transport the car, I'm your guy. Send me a PM through the board and we'll exchange phone numbers and see if we're a fit.

that does sound like an adventure
Sounds fun, but starting from the ground up is never easy. There are already several large companies out there that offer that service. Have you thought about trying to hook up with one of them as a driver? You could save up some seed money to spin off on your own.
Several of the shippers have a service they call something like "Drive-away" service. It is basically a guy driving your car to where it needs to go. It is cheaper than putting it on a truck but by no means free. You could apply for one of those jobs if you turn out to like this.
Seems like you could do good business taking advantage of the snow birds who would rather fly home.
I could definitely see a need for this service but possibly for people with more money than our broke asses.
My issue right now is that I don't really want to do this as a job. I want to do this to help the GRM guys and anyone that needs inexpensive transportation for that cool car in Atlanta that they want. A great deal of people here would really like to have a rust-free example of a car delivered from outside of the rust belt and have the means, but not the time. I have the time, but not the money.
One thing I've tossed around in my head is a car locator service. Call me with the car you want and how much you want to spend, and for a small fee, I'll locate the car and transport it to you. I don't have the money for a startup like that, so it's not something I can act on if I wanted to.
I had to chuckle at the "must be drivable" part. ... Not a commentary on you, rather a commentary on ME. I can't remember the last time I bought a drivable car.
I have a 67 LeMans and a 66 Bonneville that I need to get here to PA, but saying they are "drivable" is like saying Lindsay Lohan is "stable"
I limped an '88 Accord home from Atlanta to about 30 minutes past Gainesville Raceway with a bad transmission, having not slept for about 2 days. When I finally got the thing home, it was stuck in 1st gear. In Atlanta, I had first and second.
How many of you guys have driven in Atlanta rush hour traffic with only first and second gear?
So to reiterate, driveable condition means the car starts and can handle driving on surface streets and has brakes. My daily is a POS, probably a bigger POS than most cars that have been parked in a field for years.
Tere's money to be had on the "SnowBird" run.
