Can't place orders, receive orders, bill invoices etc. Half my vendors are down right now. Rumor was $80B ransom
This looks very serious and very big:
Something like 1/3 of all US dealers.
Not us, but we have our own issues!
Also, related, a local chain of dealers had their internal system hacked for ransom. They've been shut down completely for about a week.
$80B ransom is probably more than the company and combined dealerships could muster, $80M would be more conventional.

$5 is too much for a bunch of pirates but I'm just that kinda guy. People that make a living killing others business and hampering entire continents are nothing but a bunch of shiny happy people. The things I would suggest be done to them cannot be printed.

Oh, I quite agree. They shouldn't pay it. But asking for that much doesn't seem "reasonable" if they're actually looking to get paid.

911 system went down in MA yesterday too. Have a ME and an NH cell phone and got messages on both saying MA was down but ME/NH was still functional.
CDK had some stuff up Yesterday, got hit again late last night, just announced it'll be down all day Today at a minimum.....

If it takes ascension healthcare 6+ weeks to get back up and running.... they are being very optimistic....

Agreed, the newest issue is scammers calling Dealerships pretending to be CDK support......
I don't think it's too optimistic if they have good recent backups, 6+ weeks is nuts.
No contingency to do things the old fashion way?

Are car sales just grinding to a halt? I'm guessing any recall work is dead in the water right now.

I would think any skilled attacker would get in and wait to make sure all the backups are compromised in the same way.
