Yup.. Look around and you'll find that the locals really don't like the change. Talk to Charleston natives and you'll find they like the increase in property values, but do not want the development or factories.

Well you can't blame them for wanting to keep downtown as it is.

Reminds me a bit of Greenwood, SC. They (the rich textile mill owners) didn't want any interstates or good highways coming into town, because they didn't want people leaving town for better jobs. They wanted a good pool of dumb workers.

I can honestly say I am happy with the way people are pulling together instead of falling apart like so many other recent events. I honestly was expecting the worst in light of how things have been going.

I think the difference is that most of the recent events have focused on police mistreatment of black citizens, where this was one individual's hatred of blacks. And he was arrested, and will go to trial, and will likely get the death penalty. The anger, rioting, and looting over the Baltimore, Ferguson, Cleveland, etc events was due to perceived police racism.

I've been to Greenwood. Grede used to be one of my suppliers.

Might also be that community leaders aren't going to stand for it. Their response to the haters, "We are asking them to please leave Charleston with that hate. We are united, black and white, in the City of Charleston to get over this and to bring solidarity and unity to Charleston," said Johnson.

Tomorrow will tell for sure. The funerals are tomorrow. The President, as well as a bunch of other notables will be in town for it. Downtown will be a mad house. If the idiots are going to do something stupid, it will be tomorrow.

Wonderfully stated.

"The words "I forgive you," do not condone, minimize or dismiss evil. If anything, forgiveness exposes evil as all the more terrible by standing in compassionate contrast. Evil expects to be met with evil, but when it's met with love, it has no recourse."

My apologies for bumping this, but as I suspected, he was barred from purchasing weapons. The FBI dropped the ball when they approved him.

FBI screwed up...

Combine that with that illegal immigrant in San Francisco using a gun stolen from a federal agent to murder that women, and you see right off how useless passing MOAR gun laws is.

I was actually surprised to even find any evidence of that Reuters article on MSN. I wonder who will get fired over running it.
