^^^ What he said.
Try more online banking. Besides saving time and checks, you save money on stamps as well! I probably write 3 checks a year these days.
I wrote one manual check in 2009, and the previous check was 2007. I'm still on my first book of checks that I got about 10 years ago.
I wrote 2009 on the only one I've written this year...on a related note: It pained me to have to order new checks the other day. I only ever write them to my HOA because, like most HOAs, they are stuck in their mid-1950's pseudo-utopia and have no idea what the interwebz are.

My bank (HSBC) will do "laser drafts" to those who do not do real electronic banking for my online bill paying.
Since I do the inventory cards for our bikes I've been writing 2010 for a few months now. I have actually had to cross out 2010 and write 2009 for the last few months when writing the date instead of the model year. Glad that's over
I mostly stopped writing checks after discovering that the electronic check machine that most places use classifies checks as high risk and rejects them (and any others from that account for the next 2 weeks at any store that uses that service), if you dont regularly write checks on that account. Now i just use a credit card anytime i can, and pay it off completly every month.
Seriously, you guys still use checks? I'd be peeved if I had to order a book of checks. The only time I got any was when I opened a new bank account several years ago. I can't stand checks, such a foolish style of transferring money.

The only person I know who still accepts checks is my ex-wife. And I suppose I can't blame her for not setting up an online payment plan for that..
OTOH, when I finally ran out of paper checks, I couldn't justify buying more of them. I just started bringing her cash and suggesting she keeps her doors locked until she gets to the bank.

Depending on you bank, you can still use online banking to send a check to a private person. BOA does it. It was how I paid back my mother the money I borrowed from her to buy my truck.
I guess since I'm typing in dates on drawings all the time, I have had this problem in years... that and online banking...

Thanks for the tip! I'm with Wachovia, but I'll definitely check it out!
Least you guys are just having a problem with writing, I told someone it was oh ten not too long ago.
I normally feel smart, that was not a normal moment.

Wachovia will do it too, that's how I pay my ex ;)
I actually had to have my wife write a check from her account this morning to pay my dues to the local Studebaker club. I dont have checks anymore and I cant seem to get them into modern times with regards to accepting electronic payments.
