His daughter became an attorney specializing in family law specifically because of his abuse to her mother. He was not a great human being.
That said, he was the best Blackhawk until Kane came along and among the best NHL players of all time. And he was a big part of getting players fair pay compared to ownership, he personified the hatred that Chicago had for dollar Bill, and when that cheapskate died, Bobby was huge in saying that hockey was finally Back in Chicago. Speaking on a personal level, I met him a few times and he was super friendly with all the fans, always very accommodating.
