This Sunday is is the Transportation Extravaganza at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL.
It's a fun time. Some cool cars and trucks show up there. They also have an awesome selection of railroad equipment. Some really rare stuff on display like a Pennsylvania RR GG1 and a Union Pacific Gas-Turbine. There is also a lot of equipment that have history in Illinois and Chicago, like Santa Fe 2903 that was on display at the Museum of Science and Industry for many decades, the North Shore Line Electroliner, and many Trolleys that sped around Chicago and it's suburbs. They usually have 4 or 5 trains running at one time.
Anyways, if anyone is interested, I am planning on going and unless my wife or dogs are dying, I should be there. I will be with the Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts, we usually park on the most eastern part of the museum campus with the Model A club. It's a fun place to take the kids or grandkids.
Their website is: www.irm.org . The map for directions is here.
I hope to maybe see some of you there!
