I prefer the PS3 based on relaibility and Blu-ray capability - mine has never given a second of trouble. I presently have two 360s that need repair. There are some sweet 360-only titles, though.

-snip- I'm not going to pay extra for the privilege of playing games I just dropped 60 goddamn dollars on or so I can use streaming services I already pay for.

Right there is the heart of the issue for me. I already paid for the game/service I will not pay another fee just to be able to use it/them.

There are a few other little things. PS3 controllers come with rechargable batteries out of the box and charge with a simple USB cord, XBOX, no. How about wireless built into the box? PS3 yes XBOX no.

Anyway, everyone knows what they say about opinions but there is mine anyway.

I think the newer 360s have wireless in them now, but I dunno.

It looks like the 360 S has wifi, it only took how long? Though I will say the Star Wars 360 looks and sounds cool.

The new ones have integrated wifi, 4gb at minimum hard drive(so they all have one for a change), and don't die from the cooling issue that was the RRoD. My mw2 console came in a bundle with mw2, 4 wireless controllers(with rechargable packs), 2 headsets, and a wifi add on(before they were integrated), but that was kinda expensive when I bought it(still worked out to 2 controllers, headset, and wifi were free though) Average AA battery life in a 360 controller is about 72-96hrs of playing time.

Ask the kids what they want!

I 'd rather have a PS3, put me in the Xbox control hater camp.

Why does the goodness of the standard controller matter? The only games worth playing are worth playing with a force feedback wheel and pedals.

My credit card has been stolen from Sony, it has NOT been stolen from Microsoft. Take that as you will.

We have an Xbox360 and a Wii. Bought it cus I love Halo. His mother bought him Kinect as an add on, we don't use it much once the novelty wore off. Don't own any blurays, don't have netflix, used to stream movies from my computer to the xbox but the buffering is bad now in the current house so no more of that either. Wii collects dust, will hack and see if it doesn't get some play. No PS3 experience.

Whatever you do, don't buy the charge and play kit that microsoft sells. It's garbage.

I have a ps3 I bought in 2008 or so. At the time I wanted a blue ray player and a console. I've always been a fan of the play station products and I had a ps1 and a ps2 so the controller was a natural fit. Of course I didn't like the xbox controller, since I'd been used to the sony ones for years and years. If I didn't have the experience with sony products it might have been different.

I didn't care about it then, but now I have cable internet and I love online gaming and I would say there is maybe a 1 in 100 chance I ever would have pulled the trigger and got online if I had to pay to do it. I grew up with regular games (not online) on consoles and computers, so I was very content with playing the storyline and etc until I first went online.

I've had netflix with my ps3, works flawlessly. I like all the sony GUI, I haven't used the xbox enough to tell you any differences there though. the blu ray player works great. Honestly just from my recent (last 10-15 year) experience with consoles, I'm pretty pleased that my almost 5 year old hardware is still playing amazing looking new games and functioning well. anyone else remember nintendo and sega gensis not playing games after, oh, 6 months out of the box? lol

I don't think you can go wrong with either. But I really like my ps3 and I would buy one again.

Oh, and the wifi is really, really nice. I currently have mine hardwired now that I have faster internet that exceeds my old E36 M3ty belkin router's capacity, but the wifi works flawlessly and let me put the ps3 whereever I wanted without having to run cables. Nice to be able to move the entertainment center anywhere there is 120 volts and get your streaming video without a plug!

FWIW, my XBOX 360 was purchased used in Janruary of last year and has never had an issue. The built-in wi-fi works great. We watched a lot of Netflix on it. Also, our controllers are the wireless/rechargeable, and they are very nice. Playing FPS games with a trigger is waaaayyy more natural than anything the PS controller can offer. I had Live for awhile using a discount card, but have since canceled it. I honestly don't know why anyone would want to play online after my experiences. Outside of racing on Forza with the GRM crew here, online play was entirely tweens cussing like drunken sailors and creepy old guys trying to get off. Nobody was worth playing with, so back to single-player and co-op for me. Also, I don't own any Blu-Rays.

PS3 controllers have analog triggers just like Xbox. That said, some people just don't like the shape of the PS3 controller, and that's understandable for someone with huge hands.

The ps3 controller wears on my hands after a while and the analog triggers are less than my favorite things on earth.... Xbox controller just feels more comfortable.

I really loved the PS2 controller (I played ZGT3 and GT4 way too much on that). I honestly didn't know it had changed for the PS3. The OG XBOX controller was crap, but the 360's controller is the single best console controller I have ever used (except the OG Nintendo, duh!).

I was thinking about getting my younger two boys a console for Xmas. After reading this, I think I just get the boys a narrow pointy ended boat, which is also on the list.

It didn't change other than having analog triggers... it's 100% identical otherwise. (Well, and wireless.)

Bet you got some good feedback on your (and your moms) sexuality though eh?

One reason I have no interest in online shooters is because of this. I have not really run into this in online GT5 fortunately, quite the opposite actually. More common is a bunch of guys getting drunk or high. I was recently in a room with a few Canadians smoking it up and have been on with a smokey drinky New Zealander a few times.

If I had kids, the PS3 or XBOX online experience would likely scare the heck out of me.

Funny, I don't remember the PS controller having a normal gun-style trigger? I remember upper and lower "shoulder" buttons. The ergonomics for those is totally different. Did I have a PS1 controller or something?

The lower shoulder buttons have always had similar travel to that on the xbox controllers. Maybe the shape of them is the issue for you?

Ah, so you are talking about shoulder buttons! No, they are not even remotely the same. The placement in relation to the rest of your hand, the action, and the button's "feel" are all substantially different. The X360 controller's trigger was so natural when I first picked it up that I couldn't believe I had ever played with anything else. It's like a Miata shifter, it's just "right".

I'll reluctantly agree that the 360 "triggers" > PS3 analog "shoulder" buttons, and the Forza series were awesome, but that's the only positives I've got for XBox. I sold my second one (first one RRoD'ed) a few years ago, after blowing the dust off of it from unuse.

PS3 is what I've had since early '08. I don't game much lately, but I play BRDs on it a lot.

It's nice being able to get into an online game, whenever I want, without having to keep feeding money into it.
