I see clear car covers everywhere these days from auto shops to peoples garages
not talking about the 90s bubble wrap blow up doll style car covers
just a regular car cover that is see through.
have any of you used them?

I didn't think you were that old.
So you are looking for a car condom. Really that's the brand name. Great for keeping dust off the car for inside storage.
How come I can't write this response with a straight face?? So I'll just give up there.

A lot of people today didn't have a room at Grams house with furniture specifically designed for sitting that you weren't allowed to sit on and it shows.

Reminds me of a brilliant analogy a Slashdotter came up with to describe the privacy utility of Facebook's Tor site when it launched: "That's like putting a condom over the car you drive to the [brothel]"

They are best described as "disposable". We get about 2 months out of one on a given car.
I'd guess they would last about a year if they weren't regularly handled.
In reply to Trent :
Thanks! 2 months per car is a little too disposable for me. Barn currently has 19 cars. Thats too many covers every few months. May have to find another solution.
What happens after few months, tears or damaged?
I'd look at the offerings from Covercraft. I haven't used any of their products intended for indoor use, but I can attest that their quality, customer service and warranty coverage is excellent.

They are thin plastic, thinner than a ziploc storage bag. If an antenna is up a light tap will poke it through.
They can tear if you over stretch them or if they get hooked on a bumper when you are taking them off.
The main reason we refresh them regularly is you can't tell if they are inside out or not after you remove it and wad it up. Since our primary objective is to protect customer cars while we work the idea of letting one sit and collect the things we are trying to keep off the cars then remove it, flip it over and put that stuff right onto the paint surface is regrettable.
So I treat them as disposable.
Treated with respect, out of the elements and direct UV sunlight, and not allowed to flap in the breeze, they would last a good long time.
How about this?

This way you have a whole roll for them and anything else you need to cover at home
