There are very few problems that can't be solved with money, firepower or explosives, or a combination of the three.

NOT MINE:

There is no kill like overkill. (To be used when bracing something that you'd overbuilt anyway. With some more gussets for flavor.)

If you can't afford to do it right, you probably can't afford to do it twice. (The one that leads to the above)

MINE:

The Boost Monster always wins.

in reference to our work (as directed ) and a former employer...

there's never enough time to do it right but there's always time to do it over...

That sounds like another coined phrase I wish I'd been smart enough to write..

At construction jobs, I frequently quote the movie "Babe"

(delivered with the appropriate lazy English farmer's drawl) "That'll do, pig. That'll do."

I think this one is mine:

"Lets get this slow boat on the road"

A mixture of "slow boat to china" and "lets get this E36 M3 show on the road"

From my father in law this weekend: "I'm so tired I'd get high centered on pea gravel." He's great, you get at least one of this sort of saying every day.

A lot of these are variations (good ones!) on the original theme. Today's mixed-up metaphor for me was,

"up to my alligator in shiny happy people."

I think it works better.

"That car has Madonna camber"

Silverfleet & I came across a riced out Integra one day. The rear wheels had excessive negative camber, while the front had excessive positive camber. It reminded me of Madonna's "Vogue" video, hence the term.

"Shake it like a bad baby" The implicit horror of it wears off after you use it a few times

"Its like herding cats." Usually used in conjunction with having to be DD and attempting to get all your drunk friends into the car/out of the bar/etc.

I'm sure others have come up with 'em, too, but my favorite amalgamated phrases are "I'd lose my head if it wasn't stuck up my ass", and "We'll burn that bridge when we come to it."

Old tyme variation of the shaken bad baby: 'beat it like a red headed stepchild'.
