THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL THREAD

I commend Colbert. Pure Genius.
In his filing to the Fed Election Committee he says:
Dear Sirs and Sirettes,
Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow (ABTT) would like it entered into the record
that as of January 30th, 2012, the sum total of our donations was $1,023,121.24.
Stephen Colbert, President of ABTT, has asked that I quote him as saying, ”Yeah! How you like me now, F.E.C? I’m rolling seven digits deep! I got 99 problems but a non-connected independent-expenditure only committee ain’t one!”
I would like it noted for the record that I advised Mr. Colbert against including that quote.
Sincerely,
Shauna Polk Treasurer Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, Inc.

McCain and Feingold approve this message.
I was thinking it would be a next step for the Super Pac would be to have a large donation from someone. The see how much influence that person can have on the Pac and how much they can "non-coordinate" with the Colbert.
Holy E36 M3 that picture is effing amazing.
And didn't he transfer the PAC to Jon Stewart and change the name to "Definitely Not Supporting Stephen Colbert Super PAC?"

I love it.
I'd be willing to bet the audience of the Colbert Report is much better versed on the intricacies of the modern election cycle and Super PACs than that of any "real" news show, and it's primarily because of this stunt.
And that's pretty sad.
I do not doubt you in the least...

Yeah he did but he's got it back and is calling it Americans For A Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow. Or ABTT.

he is making a mockery of our electoral process..

No I think the current Republican field is the one making a mockery of the electoral process...

they could get the idea across if they wanted to.. but it's not really in their best interests to show off how everything really works.
One of the comments in the NY Times article said something to the effect of, "Colbert has done more to teach the public on the topic of Super Pac than a 2 hr PBS documentary on the topic ever could."
i linked to that page on my facebook thingie, and one of my friends could only think to spout off a bunch of stuff about how Colbert and Stewart are just puppets for Soros and are guilty of treason for some strange reason..
sigh..
I would vote for either one of them for President. No joke.
Bonus points if they ran together for president and vice.
I watched the most recent Daily Show and he pretty much tore Romney a new one. Annnddd... it made sense, and was accurate. (I checked what he said on Bain Capital.)
Dude is a MAJOR hypocrite.

I'm a fan of the Daily Show. I'm not much of a fan of Romney. Jon Stewart made LBOs sound a lot worse than they are.
Bain is pretty low on the list of reasons to dislike Romney. It's even pretty low on the list of reasons to call him a hypocrite.
Shhhhhhhh ima run with it!!!!
Not like i was voting for any of these clowns in the first place.
Yeah, and the one in office now doesn't have the nards to yell at Congress to slam the brakes on the out of control spending which my grandkids will be paying for.
This country is in deep trouble when comedians are better Presidential choices than the real ones.

While Stewart and Colbert are both very funny, they are (to a degree) hypocrites, too.
They love poking fun at conservatives and Republicans and much of it is deserved. But, "the other side" is at least as guilty in saying/doing stoopid E36M3. One would expect more "balance" if the Comedy Central duo had more intellectual honesty.
Instead, Stewlbert push an agenda while pandering to a demographic and get paid big bucks while doing it.
They cut on Dem's as well. But they go where the comedy is and right now that is in the Republican Primaries.
