we already get less services for more money thanks to Comcrap. We can also blame them for extremely high internet connection prices compared to the rest of the world as well. They have made us come to believe that you should pay more for less

My favorite part is that the head of TWC, having just taken over less than 2 MONTHS ago, will be getting a $50 MILLION dollar payday out of the deal for doing absolutely nothing!...And these CEO's are the ones calling it "class warfare" for their employees to want a fair wage and decent/affordable healthcare benefits in exchange for their hard work.

The Anschluss of Comcast and Time Warner Cable is not over yet. We can still stop this thing! Well, the Department of Justice can still stop this thing. Clap if you believe antitrust laws still exist...

Love the use of the term "Anschluss".

I switched from Uverse to Comcrap last summer. When my contract is up, I'm going back. Partially because the Comcrap service likes to drop out for no reason for a minute or two, then come back, and partially because I don't want any more of my money to go to those bastards.

Cable? Who needs that?

Untie the leash and just get raped by their High Speed Internet. It hurts less and gives you access to all the wonderful TV/Video on the interwebs.

If it weren't for F1, Indycar, and the walking dead I would get rid of it.

I have TWC only for internet. I'm not so glad about this merger because Comcast is one of the three companies on my "do not do business with" list. I had Comcast back when I lived in VA. When we first signed up, I got one of their cable modems. You know, the kind you rent from them. Well after a few months, I went and bought one for $50 and turned my rental one in to the local office. I got a paper from them showing that it was turned in and everything. Fast forward 5 or 6 years and it is time for me to move. I go to get my service disconnected and they want their cable modem back. Say I owe them some money for keeping their equipment. I show them the receipt from turning it in, but that does not sway them. They look at my monthly bills for the past years and agree that I wasn't paying the rental fee for their modem. They somehow owe me about $140, but will not pay me until I give them the modem back. The 1-800 number people seem helpful, but in the the end say I have to go to my local office. The local office, with its terrible hours and DMVesque approach to customer service end up telling me I need to call the 1-800 number. At one point I even took a half day off from work trying to sort it out. Eventually, I just left town with them still owing me $140. That was in 2009. I'm sure that when this merger finally goes through, I will be asked for the modem again. A true pack of idiots.

The slowest DSL through AT&T is fast enough for Netflix. I'm just saying...

I'm already stuck in the Time Warner monopoly. I don't think their customer service could possibly get any worse.

That's all I have from Comcrap. It hurts enough.

In reply to T.J.: They did the same thing to me. I saw $5 a month modem rental, said 'oh HELL no' and bought a Surfboard. Never even had theirs in my house. Later on when I upgraded to a newer one I called in with the new MAC address, they wanted to know when I was going to return the first one. I'm not, it's mine.

That was when I discovered they had been charging us for modem rental for 3 years. The ex had been paying the cable and that's why I didn't catch it. They refunded a whopping $25, the bastards.

I moved to a place with prettymuch only TWC, from a place I had comcast. My rates went up, and my internet got slower. Comcast can't be worse than TWC from my perspective. Can't say it's a good thing, maybe the better of 2 horrifically poor isp's?

I remember years ago when my mom left the state, I returned her Cable Box to Comcast. A year later she starts getting threatening letters from a collection agency about the box. Nothing I did would make them shut up except pay the money to replace it

Yeah, don't do a damn thing with them, the IRS or the DMV unless you get a written receipt.

I have at least 3 ISPs and 4 cable options to choose from right now, even after some smarty granted British Telecom an eternal monopoly on all telecoms for wiring the island up in the '50s. Wasn't easy to get out of that one, that only happened in the early-mid '00s.

Not to worry! Our very capable government will never allow this merger, since it creates a huge monopoly and stifles competition.

Nobody does, but that's the way those bastards work. About DMV: I turned in a tag for a car I sold and got a receipt, threw it in my crap. A year and a half later, I got a phone call from DMV wanting the tag because I'd canceled the insurance and to make it better the new owner had not transferred the title and got in an accident. That receipt was the only thing that kept me from having to pay for SR22 insurence.

There was a competitive cable bill that passed through Wisconsin and it did nothing. I can't get any other cable provider in my area because all of the cable in the neighborhood, I believe, is owned by one company. The competing companies would have to go through and install their infrastructure. The companies probably have 'gentlemen's handshake' not to invading each others territory in a meeting like in the Godfather, I'd imagine.

The comparison with organized crime is very appropriate.

Indeed they do but as long as you can get satellite or FIOS in your area they technically have competition so it bypasses the anti trust laws. I used to work for Comcrap, the only thing I miss is the free cable.

Comcast/TWC/Verizon has got its hands on the balls of government, in this case. Every politician in Washington knows these guys should be under common carrier guidelines won't dare challenge them.

It's wild to thing about how our whole economy is now built around infrastructure that is owned by only 3 or 4 companies.
