Indeed they do but as long as you can get satellite or FIOS in your area they technically have competition so it bypasses the anti trust laws. I used to work for Comcrap, the only thing I miss is the free cable.

Oh just wait, the rumor mill has the gov't considering "FiberOptic for all".......yea, i'm sure that'll be cheap.

When we looked into getting brighthouse to run cable to our house(2 miles worth of it), they wanted $40,000 to do it......
