Yes.
It's actually a sweet deal for me.
Picked up the new toy and boy is it fun. Just at it's first feeding to top it off as I'm waiting for my 220 and wall charger to show up shortly.

Looks great! Really like those uberturbines on the 3. Keep those impressions coming.
Ok so the good news is I made it to the motor city and the supercharger setup got me ~100miles of charge in ~20 minutes.
The adaptive cruise is actually super handy and I did pleasant and quiet conference calls more than half the drive.
The bad news is I underestimated the range consumption of the car at my normal 85-90mph cruising speed.
I started with 305 miles of charge and added ~100 at the free supercharger for a total of ~405 miles of range for a 284mile trip. I arrived at the hotel with 54miles of range left in the tank. So my leadfoot cost me 65miles of range or 16% loss in efficiency.
That was sounding bad in my head till I did the math. As I write this I think that's ok and I really just need to trick the supercharger into giving me more miles before it slows down dramatically. I would have sat a bit longer but the charge rate had dropped so I decided to roll on.
Made it to my Hotel in Troy which has the Tesla wall connect gen 2 chargers which were happily charging at 33miles per hr when I stepped next door for dinner.
The supercharger will pump in power as fast as it can for as long as you're plugged in. It slows down as you get close to full because that's how the physics work. You can't trick it, but if the nav system knows it's stopping ahead of time it will prep the battery so it will take max charge right away. The nice thing is that the car will have full range available tomorrow morning when you get up and you had a pretty reasonable margin.
And yeah, range numbers are assuming you are a responsible member of society and are traveling at the speed limit you hooligan :) Remember that drag increases with the square of speed, so a 90 mph cruise will have about 65% more aerodynamic losses compared to 70.
Lol guilty as charged. I did not go to extensive efforts to buy a dumb fast car to drive it slow. Safe of course but not slow.
Will have to start my research and "gasp" reading of the manual to figure this thing out. Much of it is very IPhone intuitive. The issue is that there is simply up there to figure out.

Which means that between Toledo and Detroit you were not the fastest car. I spent years of my past life driving that stretch.
However, I can not recommend the same speeds in the Ohio stretch of your trip. Them Troopers are vicious.
Does Toledo still do its camera tickets in the stretch that is the last few miles of Ohio? Look for a cop sitting on the ramps with a hand held speed gun.

It is even worse in the northern Ohio zone as they went to speed cameras that they move frequently. Have a hilarious pic of my doing 91 in traffic in a Dodge Caravan that was sent to my Admin...

This is where FSD can help a bunch. You can set the car to maintain a speed above the limit and the car will read the speed limit signs and adjust accordingly. I set mine to 10 over the limit and never have to watch for cops. The only time I have to adjust is in poorly marked construction zones. Oh, and the efficiency will be much better. You could cut at least 10 minutes off that supercharger visit. The other thing to remember is that the car supercharges faster from 20-40% than it does from 50-70%. Want faster charging, make sure it's a destination on the map to ensure pre-heating the battery if necessary and stop at a lower charge. Also, I have been using the app Tessie and have enjoyed checking the efficiency on the long drives and comparing to when I'm caning the car trying to get somewhere . Physics is a bitch.
Will check out the app and the ability to set the speed accordingly. That is a cool trick. On a related note the car and I have officially bonded with our first speeding ticket together.

Sorry to hear of the ticket. Ohio Troopers or Toledo camera ticket? I'm doubting it was Michigan.
