Please help me choose between these two: A new chrome book which I can pick up locally for about $250. I know Chromebook is limited in features so maybe I already have my answer? Or a Toshiba Satellite c655-s5150 laptop which I've found for sale locally for $300 with the following features:

-15.6 screen wifi,Excel,Groove,InfoPath,OneNote,Outlook,SharePoint,PowerPoint,Publisher,VisioViewer,Word and more -DVD burner, webcam, and updated BIOS. Has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT version.

Seller is retired from IBM and advertises will offer free tech support if you purchase from him.

My needs basically are web surfing, online videos, movies but occasionally could utilize something like power point. I also would like to be able to burn old home movies onto digital storage (Id use El Gato for the actual conversion). Having a DVD burner would be nice to.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

My exposure to Toshiba products has been 100% negative...your results may vary.

Toshiba hardware is indeed crap. The Chromebook should be able to do all you need apart from the video conversion.

The home movies and Powerpoint pretty much rule out chromebooks.

Chromebooks can do Powerpoint:

Make sure he gives you serial numbers for all that software if you get the Toshiba.

You'll need to log in to post.
