For running Reaper. I'd need something hopefully with a 3.5mm mic input and not a lot else. This will be a dedicated music recording machine so I don't need graphics or huge processing speed, or even much storage. Or battery life since it'll always be near an outlet.

This is currently not a for-sure purchase, but I'm trying to see options before I spend money on another route. Basically, all my gear lives in a bedroom, and the computer I was planning to use is just outside the bedroom. Easy, except I can't figure out how to push computer buttons (volume adjust, start record, stop record...) from the drum throne in the adjacent room. In the past ive always had a second set of hands, but not anymore.

New, used, refurbished, whatever. Thanks!

I have had really good luck getting refurbs from newegg. It died after a couple years, but it was really cheap and the nicest backlit keyboard I have used to date.

Woot! often has some cheap options.

This Lenovo X131E is about the cheapest option they've currently got that I'd be willing to live with, i3, 8 Gb ram, 128 Gb SSD, Win 10 Pro.  All of their cheaper options are either Chromebooks or Celerons.

Ordered that Lenovo. It's got more memory that I want but it's got all the inputs and the reviews are good and it's only $30 more than the other stuff I was looking at. Should work good.
