At the moment, I don't have any live music in the queue--a totally rarity. We just saw Primus the other night--killer, killer show--but there's nothing else on the horizon.
So, I ask thee: Anyone on tour who we should be checking out?
And my tastes tend to fall under the "loud fast rules" heading. Currently listening to Dead Kennedys. (Yes, I'm old school.)

I wanted to go see Primus 3D, but I just couldn't justify the price they were charging for a GA-only theatre with no seats.
I'm going to go see The Sword on Friday. Not loud & fast, but they have a nice old school vibe to them.
I'm not even a big fan of them but I'm going just to go. 90 bands seen this year so far, figure why not make it some more. Saw Suffocation Sunday night, old school death metal. Not sure if they are touring outside of the NE though.
Sadly after this show & a local show on 12/08 I've got nothing lined up until February.
They may not be your thing, but my wife and I just saw the Avett Brothers and were blown away. What a great live show!!
When you saw Primus, were they playing with Gogol Bordello? I like those guys a lot.
I also don't have any shows on the horizon, but part of it is because we're entering the long, dead winter here. It was 28 degrees last night. Not many people want to rock out when it's 28 degrees.
It was just Primus, but that 3D tour was pretty trippy. It was a bit more prog/jam than I expected, but it still rocked. You know, they could just do scales all evening, and I bet it would be entertaining. And here, Primus sample: http://youtu.be/953PkxFNiko
And Municipal Waste? Never saw them, but thanks for the tip. They're playing in Jax soon--same place I saw Death Angel. Good venue.

Oh, you will LOVE the Waste.
They are fast, loud, and can be really, really funny. Search Youtube for the video of them going to the art museum in LA. It is pure comedy gold.
MA$$hole and I saw them a few years back at the New England Metal and Hardcore festival in Worcester MA. The venue that held the 4-day fest was right next to a major arena, which was hosting The Grateful Dead the same weekend. The entire city was filled with metal heads and hippies at the same time and in the same concentrated area. It was hilarious watching them all interact.
The Municipal Waste dudes went out to the hippie camp behind the venue and bought a ton of Tye-dye stuff, funky hats, and other weird hemp clothing products and went on stage. They did the whole hippie act the whole way through their set. They would be like, "this next one's about peace and love, dude" and then play their brand of blistering fast Thrash. I definitely could have done without the singer climbing up the right stage speaker and stripping down to his tighty whities and gyrating, but that's probably because he was tripping, man. I highly doubt they do that on a normal show, LOL.
Cool. Looks like the Jax show conflicts with the PRI Show, but maybe Tampa that weekend.
Thanks for the tip.

Wow. That is old school. I actually have Give me Convenience or Give me Death. On vinyl of course. Purchased in the late 1980's, IIRC. Been a while since I listened to it. I don't think the wife would like it, and I wouldn't feel right playing it around my kids.
The Darkness is on tour. Playing Orlando soon IIRC. I love them.
If'n yuns got one o them fancy phones, get the songkick app. Tell it what artists you like, and it'll tell you the day they go on tour. Pretty rad.

I have an app called Bandsintown that does that. It's pretty cool.
Random dancing bear while you are searching:
Wow, we've got a TON of concerts coming up- it's the new UMS season.
Dave Holland Big Band, Diane Reeves, Esparanza Spalding, Martha Graham dance troop doing Copeland, Nadja Salerno Sonnenburg- etc.
But the one I would recommend without a moment- Jazz at Lincoln Center. Those guys are awesome. Have been seeing them pretty much every year for going on 20 years.
Hoping to meet Nadja this time- I was in a symphony orchestra behind her just about 30 years ago.
anybody ever done a concerts ya shoulda seen but ya didn't thread here?
I say as I'm watching Pink Floyd for days now on Youtube

I regret missing a few, and Soundgarden is probably the biggest one that I shoulda seen and didn't. Not sure how I never saw them. Maybe we'll get them next time around, although they don't list any dates in the Southeast. I also passed on seeing Body Count. Hey, it was a friend't birthday, so spent the evening in a bar across the street from the venue.
I missed Fish Bone while I was in school, but finally saw them 20 years later. It was worth it. Ditto the Police: missed them way back in the day, but we saw them on their last tour. They sounded great.
On the other hand, I was lucky to see a bunch of acts that won't be repeated: Ramones, Nirvana, Morphine and The Who with John Entwistle.
I never saw the Dead. Had many opportunities, but just wasn't into them. Still not a deadhead, but it would have been something to check off the "cool stuff to do" list.
Neil Young is playing in town tonight...depends on his mood as to how loudfast he plays. Touring as Neil Young and Crazy Horse this time around, so it could tend more to rock than folk. Probably a bit old and lame for this crowd, I guess.
I thought The Darkness broke up?
If you can catch'em...I recommend The Black Keys.
I've been a Darkness fan. I get that, "Why did I marry you? look" when I tell the wife I need a striped pant suit.
The only regret I have is not seeing Dio or Heaven and Hell (Dio-fronted Black Sabbath) while he was alive. I had a few chances to see each and I turned them down.
That and being born too late to see Zeppelin live. I grew up listening to them, and I consider John Bonham to be a long lost uncle that taught me how to play drums posthumously through my constantly playing along to Zeppelin albums.
I still need to see Rush before they call it quits. I couldn't go a few weeks ago when they were in town.
Three other bands that always come to town when I can't go are Fu Manchu, Corrosion of Conformity, and Helmet. The worst was when Fu Manchu was here the day before my 21st birthday, and they played a 21+ club.

Got to see em again with napalm death and speedwolf. It was so awesome and it was in a place the size of a large living room.

Thanks to PRI, looks like I'm going to miss this one. Bummer.
Could it be? Quicksand reunion! I will be going to the Boston show so long as it doesn't sell out. 2 dates confirmed Boston & NYC.
