It doesn't look like it has front brakes and it definitely doesn't have a rear suspension.

The text says, "built to sand drag" but the tires look like nothing you would want for sand.
I guess if you put front brakes, some kind of rear suspension, and a roll cage on it might classify it as AM. Just don't expect it to be competitive at all, and expect to fail tech at least once.
That's probably more fun than the garden tractor that he wants to trade it for
Oddly enough, I have a garden tractor I want to get rid of. But, probably not worth as much.

Run some cheap snow tires on the front. Should be fine in the dirt.
