I've had permission to post a fundraiser before, so I'll operate on the assumption that it will be removed if it's not cool.

You people are amazing souls.
Edit to add: Gofundme sets a default "tip" suggestion on the payment page. Many people assume it's a fee, but it's just a suggestion. You can slide the green bar left or right to adjust the suggested tip (including zero) if you don't wish to pay a fee for the donation.
Oh, and the kids are 9, 4, and 2.
There are also a lot of reputable charities that look for long term solutions - both for single parents and spouses of incarcerated. Most of them are religious based.

I have tried to donate to the Gofundme, but it isn't liking my "tap all the squares with a bus". Maybe it went through.

Wonderful ideas. I'll pass them along. So far she hasn't had much luck with most charities because they look at gross income, not what she actually clears after expenses.
In reply to spitfirebill :
Thank you! It made it! Thanks for the generosity
Blew by the original goal :)
Lets keep going
I am honestly crying right now.
This is amazing. You're all amazing.

Done.
You're a good man Curtis.

If there's any amazement here, it's all in the shadow of your own amazement!
I'm trying to share it on FB, but it's not letting me exclude her and her family from the audience. She knows about it, but I want the total to be a surprise.
Done. Hopefully their holidays can provide a bit of happiness.
If the husband is behind bars and she isn't working yet, their gross income is probably now close to zero. WIC, Food Stamps and other programs which are in place for just this sort of thing are now probably an option.
I sent what I could their way.

Thank you!
She is back at work. She's making fair money (about $20/hr) managing a vet clinic, but rent in her Houston suburb is about $1200/mo, and the daycare is eating most of her income for the two littlest, and the 9-year-old goes to daycare after school as well until she's done with her work day. She hasn't disclosed all the hard numbers, but she said she's clearing just over $100/week after daycare. Her grandparents kicked in enough money to cover her rent for Dec and Jan, but clearing $400/mo won't let her eat and keep the apartment.
I feel so helpless because I'm not rich so I can't loan/gift her anything significant, I'm not in a place where I can move to Houston to care for three rugrats (nor do I have any experience being a parent and child care), and I don't really know what to do. This gofundme is my way of helping, and you people and your generosity are amazing. Here come the waterworks again. I'm accepting donations of tissues at this point.
I called her today to let her know that I started the campaign, and we both cried on the phone.
She's looking into selling her ex hubby's truck which should bring in a little cash, but she's not savvy in that sort of thing, so I'll probably make some time to fly down at the end of January and handle that for her. I used to live in TX and I (at least when I was there) it's just a signature without a notary. I did offer for her to sell her car to ditch the payments and I could bring down my Lincoln, but I'm not sure a 27 year old gas guzzler is a reliable or wise replacement.
Done.
I have no idea who these people are but if Curtis cares about them, I care about them.

Done. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to do something good today, you're a good man.
In reply to Curtis73 (Forum Supporter) :
At least as recently as 2 years ago when I lived in TX, no notary required. DFW or Houston should be a huge market, great for selling cars
Details on the truck, I'm sure someone here is looking for one.
Can we hit $3k Today? I bet we can.

Remember, the true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.
There are a lot of mensches here.
