Stock AM/FM radio in my '02 Silverado finally gave up. It would randomly go silent, but eventually start up again. Had a little bluetooth speaker velcroed to the dash as a backup.
Decided to pull the wally world special ($16) radio out of my son's old '98 S10 so I could listen to the radio again. I modified the speaker plate to fit and the harness from the S10 matched up to the Silverado so had a radio again in less than 30 minutes at zero cost. #winning.
Had to run to the store last night and realized the harness isn't "quite" the same because now my dash lights don't work unless I turn on the cargo light.
Why is that related to covid?
I installed the stereo almost a month ago..... It took that long before I drove the truck in the dark and had to use the lights.....
Times are weird right now.
(Why would anyone here care? Zero reason. But y'all are the only car people I can talk to. I gotta tell someone who won't ask "Why didn't you take it the dealer to fix the stereo?")

These really are strange times. I've had the same thoughts; it's not weird at all. I can't tell you the last time I drove my truck at night. Might have been in February?
Ha! Closest issue I've had like that is due to my job- I'm used to wearing masks in the ICU so i'm in one about ~50 hours a week, and I've been growing my goatee out Scott Ian style because... who can tell? But I realized I gotta cut it now, because it gets shoved into my mouth due to my masks. And I also realized how stringy and wiry my facial hair is.
I ran into similar issues in the past. GM likes to use the same connector for the stereo, but not the same pin out.

There's an adapter that you need to use for these trucks. WE had to do it with the Sierra.
Similar issue on my Sierra. Been driving it to work the past few days to be sure it's up to winter duty and had to beat on the dash to get the lights to work. Lots of lights out on the radio and climate control buttons
I sleep like a baby now because my neighbor isn't coming home at 1AM and sitting for another 30 minutes in his idling truck in the driveway 50 feet from my bedroom window while he either listens to E36 M3ty music or blabbers on his Bluetooth-connected phone.
thanks, Covid!
I just did an oil change on my daily driver commuter car (2018 Mazda3)
The last oil change? January.
Because Crazyvirus.
I have to remind myself to drive various cars. Because I don't go anywhere. Thers one that has only had one oil change this year, and usually I would do a 5k oil change a month....
In reply to volvoclearinghouse :
Before I traded in my Mazda, I actually had to do an oil change due to the time interval and not the mileage interval. That was a first for that car!
Speaking of which, I should probably change the oil in the Power Wagon. It's been damn near close to a year!
