My wife has got an iphone 5, which for a change, she actually carries. Her previous Android phone was buggy, and so she never carried it.

Now the problem is she wants to carry the phone while running...in her hand. This has resulted in a few oops moments.

I'm one to talk, I've dropped my phone twice NOT running, and I've also got a pretty busted up screen glass.

Are there screen protectors that aren't bulky? I like easily slide my phone in my pocket without it getting snagged on stuff and I like how without a case sometimes I barely notice it in my pocket. My wife has similar thoughts. We're both anti-Otterbox for this reason. They are just too. damn. big.

Any suggestions?

I have seen holders that strap to your hand.

But if you can talk her into strapping it to her arm- that's a lot easier to deal with- that's how my wife and I normally run- both with phones.

Another alternative is a belt device- not the clip on- but one of the running belts with storage- my wife sometimes goes that way, too.

(as for cases with screen protectors- I have no idea- we both just have a basic apple cover)

LifeProof is the brand that is "Otterbox without the bulk"
There are so many options for a iPhone5 that it is mind numbing. Try amazon and you will see millions of choices, really, millions.

The i5 is coming out of vouge with the intro of the i6. This means that i5 accessories are being discounted. I got my wife a genuine Otterbox, in a discontinued color, on Amazon for less than $20 recently.

I wonder if she couldn't get just a tempered glass screen protector combined with her current minimal case?

Just wanted to add that those tempered glass protectors are no joke, I drop my phone quite a bit and had one on there it had lots of chips and small hairline cracks in it, but recently I had to send in my phone for warranty repair so I took it off and the actual screen looked like brand new. They don't so anything to protect the edges though so a actual case is still needed.

I've been searching for an Otterbox-like case, but with a chain like a wallet. I've nearly lost it a dozen times because I got distracted.

i got one at dollar general that's a hard plastic case with a silicone-like outer wrap that can be removed. it was good enough that i tried to shut the hood of my truck twice before i realized my phone was under the hinge. case dinged, phone survived.
