Dammit now I can't see all the crazy crackhead sales and cool projects! Why do you hate free speech Craigslist? We're not even allowed to view pages?

It's hardcore nerdy stuff:

The users, and volunteers running exit nodes such as myself, have been completely blocked from Craigslist.

So what is wrong with looking at a Craigslist ad non-anonamously?

If you run a Tor exit node you don't have a choice, your regular web traffic is indistinguishable from Tor traffic because it all comes from the same IP. You'd need a separate internet connection.

It's their website, Craigslist can do what they want. They're not the federal government.

This isn't a free speech problem.

For the vast majority of the history of this country, the US Supreme Court has upheld a stance that offers commercial speech total non-protection under the First Amendment.

That is to say, if the purpose of your "speech" is to sell stuff, it is not a protected form of speech.

In recent years that position has changed to one of qualified protection. It is, however, still completely true that commercial speech and political speech are not the same, and that political speech is fully protected under the First Amendment, while commercial speech is subject to at least some forms of government regulation.

But yeah, the company does not have to allow anyone the right to speak freely on their owned site.

Kind of like, "Political discussion not welcome".

I think the bottom line is more like, Craig Newmark is kind of a d*ck.

Actually a lot of the initial development was done by the US Navy and various militaries do use it.

From the Wikipedia link above, "Tor (short for The Onion Router) is a system intended to enable online anonymity."

My guess is Craiglist is blocking this in an attempt to reduct the amount of illicit activity on their site.

I just noticed there's an option to show images when searching now. Was also the option to "Show on map" and one other option a few minutes ago but I don't see those now.
