Omitting "to be".
Car needs painted. Maybe needs rebuilt, but turns over. Plugs need changed.
I've seen this one come up as a pet peeve here before. I gotta say...that type of talk is so typical here (in the midwest, I mean) that I didn't even realize it was poor grammar. And that's saying something, because I'm better than most.
This poster needs taught.

I'm going to list a doozie of an ad myself here in the next week or so...just to get folks riled up and/or provide some laughs.
"runs good, shifts good......has a rod knock needs towed"
I just found this one and had to share:

I also have a 93' oldsmobile cutless just needs new manifold. It runs good. Looking for 500 (obo). Both cars are classics and both run great just a li work. I can send pics of both by email if u r interested and plz no endless emails or trying to scheme and dream these are two wonderful cars just dont need them ne more...

Literacy Study
That link goes to a USA Today article, the gist is that 1 in 7 adults in the US can't really read. I think some of what we're seeing in these ads is a reflection of that. It's sad and it does not bode well for our economy as the sorts of jobs were minimal literacy was acceptable continue to disappear.
I was just talking to some coworkers about this very subject. I work in a large industrial facility, and we certainly have a number of employees that fit this statistic. Craigslist is certainly a showcase for illiteracy.
Oh, and my personal pet peeve on Craigslist: "For Sell."
You want to sell an item. It is for sale. Not sell.

you know you've found the car for you when the p.o. named it. I'm glad that Brown runs good, I can't wait to meet Brown. I wish I knew the name of the other one that needs a manifold but runs good. or the name of any of the wires that need grounding...
