OK, heres a quick and dirty HOW TO build your very own scary black rifle. this is pretty much the easiest way to build your own AR15. you can buy a complete rifle already assembled, or build one basically from a pile of parts. there are several companies that sell the various parts that you'll need to build a rifle. an intermediate option is to buy a complete upper receiver, (includes the bolt and its associated parts, the upper receiver, charging handle, barrel, handguard, gas block and front sight), and a complete lower receiver (buffer tube, pistol grip, trigger guard, fire control group, buttstock, bolt catch and mag release). the upper and lower attach to one another with two pins, the pivot pin and takedown pin.

Here's what i ended up with after i received the complete upper, two 20rnd mags and rear sight.

the pivot pin went in easy enough.

then the takedown pin needed a bit of tapping to seat home, then i've got a complete rifle.

of course, you could buy a stripped lower, lower parts kit, stripped upper, bolt, bolt carrier group, barrel, handguards, gas block and all the other parts, but i wasn't about to do that on my first ever AR build. can't wait to get out to the range to see how it shoots once i go through the recommended barrel break in (clean after every round first 25 rounds, then every 10 rounds for the next 100

This is about 15 minutes worth of work with a small file. http://rimfireshooting.com/index.php?showtopic=3185

I want to do that and an extended mag release, But I'm not comfortable digging into the trigger asembly.

Its not too bad, you don't have to mess with the trigger stuff to change out the bolt release, and it's the same pin as the mag release
