Fellow craigslisters... I kept getting irritated searching craigslist for random honda parts and having to click on each city in the state....so I made a script that can search craigslist by state and have been using it for a little bit now.

But I thought, well maybe you guys would like it also. So I made it into a website. Check it out. Let me know what you think about it!

http://www.statewidelist.com

If you can think of any ideas to make it better I would be glad to try them.

I'll give it a try, but, I swear, if it links to a porn site I'll concentrate real hard till your head explodes.

Thanks

Nice, but I am not sure it is an improvement over Craiglook. For me, I need to search by zip because I am closer to OH and WV and MD than Philly.

Dude! Freakin gold! I was just wondering how hard this would be to set up. Now I don't have to. I sent a link to all my fellow car parts hunters

OK, I was ready to scream [small paddle operated boat] but gave it a shot. My likes. Can I offer a suggestion? make it searchable by ZIP. I go to searchtempest and like that because I can tell it to search within XXX miles of my zip. What I HATE about search tempest and LOVE about yours is that on yours I see a simple list of all the cities with links that apply. Much easier than searchtempest to me. I'll be using yours even though sometimes it'll mean a few searches since I'm willing to go outta state for some things.
very nice job!

Zip code would be nice! Living in East Texas I realize that I am closer to Chicago and the Atlantic ocean than I am to some parts of Texas.

Searchtempest tells me Wisconsin is with 100miles of Grand rapids, Mi. sure.....as the crow flies...worthless for getting cars

OK, but I don't really see what it's got over craiglook. Craiglook lets me set a radius based on my zip code.

Still, yours has a nice fit and finish to it.

Ok I am looking into the zip code search and it looks a lot harder than you would think. But I am going to give it a try.

Craiglook was interesting but gave a LOT less results than my site. Looks like they download the data from craigslist and kind of manage it so its not a "real-time search" like mine is.

Like putting in "rwhp" on craiglook for my zip code 27613 and 100 mile radius. I only get one result.

But on statewidelist.com "rwhp" brings up 9 results just for Raleigh. Even Fayetteville would be within a hundred miles and there is results there also on mine...so something on craiglook does not work right.

But working on zip code as I type!

i like your results page as its easy to see everything but still organizes it by CL region.

one really small maybe mundane thing that i'd change is in the dropwindow for categories if 'cars and trucks' was listed first if you just press 'c' it'll snap to that first as i havent ever selected by owner or by dealer. just quickens it up.

+1 for zip code too, maybe just optional as the state is cool too. thanks though!

I agree. Fixed so "cars + trucks" comes first. Who searches for dealer stuff anyways.

Would it be possible to offer the option to shuffle the order in which a state's regions are listed?

I would like to be able to select multiple states at a time but so far it looks good.

EvanB: I changed the site to have a drop down for States on the results page. So you can navigate to other states easier and do the same search on them.

Would maybe having an adjacent states search be of use? Possibly 4 states at one time.

Not necessarily. Suppose you prefer to shop in Huntington Beach, but you live closer to Watts.
