My Impala is on craigslist (wanna buy a car, sell it to ya cheap!) and since it's been posted I've been getting calls from 818 and 702 area codes from people claiming to be "finance specialists" or "marketing specialists". They go on to tell me the same stuff "We have a demand for this car, and we want to hook you up with our customers..." etc.

What is this really and should I do something about it?

Thanks

I got a text from 831 area code looking to purchase my Bronco spare tire carrier via certified check in the mail. Of course this includes an extra $50 to "secure the purchase".

My response? "No thanks. Move along with your bullE36 M3". I have strung others along for a week or two just for fun. I also made sure to give the address of the local FBI office to send all checks and correspondence to.

I have wondered why so many ads say " I don't need help selling" now I know. I've never encountered this myself.

Yeah, its a scam where you pay $200 bucks for them to 'advertise' your car to their 'buyers'. Of course it really just means you send them $200 for nothing.

I generally tell them if they are so sure they can sell my car, I will sell it to them for 200 off of my asking price, and then they can resell and profit. They can't get off the phone fast enough.

In reply to Robbie:

I was thinking it'd be something like that. At least when I tell them I'm not interested they have the decency to hang up and not pester me further.

Thanks guys.

I don't list a phone number in mine and ask for buyers to list their number and email address for me to reply to.
