I didn't watch the game. I was watching the Conti Challenge at Daytona. But when I paused the the race to make a pit stop it was just in time to see the half time.
That was undoubtedly the worst half time show I've ever seen

Yes, it was really bad.
And rather than start a new thread for this, since there are already 4 or more S00per bowl related threads, but they really need to make some changes for the non-football stuff.
First, next year, get THESE GUYS to perform the National Anthem again. Secondly, for the halftime show, they need to get college marching bands out again.
At least the game was reasonably good. It's about time they start emphasizing the game instead of the "experience."

Agreed.
The BEP's are a stage act. They have been touring forever. They know how to at least make their music sound decent to fans at a live performance. You don't like your music, I understand that, but a high school talent show has better sound guys.

I bet Axl was sitting at home hoping Slash would spin around a smash Fergie with the guitar.
I love the BEPs...on my iPod. I have never been impressed with them live however, and that usually extends to most rap/hip hip/dance music. It's so heavily synthesized that it just doesn't translate well live.
PLUS, halftime was sponsored by Bridgestone. How about a bunch of Evos blasting around, powersliding, drifiting, jumping, etc? Put Ken Block out there!

Or least get someone who knows all the words...yeah, the Anthem isn't supposed to be a 'performance', just sing the thing straight.
For half time I'd prefer marching bands as well, and bring back the Pass, Punt and Kick competition.

AMEN!

Best performance of our national anthem. Ever.
I have said it for years, "NCAA College Football should REQUIRE that marching bands get halftime airplay."
The one a year or two ago when they wheeled the Who up on stage with their oxygen bottles was worse.
The Black Eyed Peas took a note from the Roethlisberger playbook and violated everybody during the halftime show.
It was safe, manufactured mainstream pop--what we'd expect in this post Janet Jackson world. It offends nobody. Hell--Fergie wasn't even scantily-clad--which is hte only reason I tuned in.
The sound guy was ponderous--he kept dropping random voices out of the mix. I could tell Fergie wasn't in the mid on the first tune and you could tell he went "oh E36 M3!!!" once she started singing solo and nothing came out. I mean--it's the Super Bowl--how could you not be paying attention to the vocal of one of the biggest pop stars on the planet?!
Hacky.
What 20 seconds I saw of the show seemed more like the Daft Eyed Peas. Looks like they wanted to be so many things they are not.
You know, from the sounds of it, I did a better job running the sound board in my old church when I was 14 than the sound guy did for the Stupor Bowled.
This was worse than the abysmal Rolling Stones show a few years ago. That show was 90% autotune and a live show just demonstrates just how bad the BEP's are. It was like a bad Daft Punk show combined with a 90's boy band concert. I blame autotune and modern production methods for a slew of untalented artists these days.
