So with our recent cold snap, many people are commening on how positive temps suddenly feel, if not warm, then not unpleasant. Last night going out to dinner with SWMBO the car was reading low teens and we pass two teenage boys walking, not running, down the street in shorts. Bare legs at 13-15 F!!!! Nuts!
The smelly trolls (smokers) at my office were saying how nice it felt outside now that it was 18 degrees. I guess compared to -6, that's quite a bit warmer!

I like that, consider it stolen
It's not just the kids. It was near 30 here yesterday, and after a couple mornings of single digits and daytime highs in the teens, it felt downright balmy. I even ventured a dash into the credit union from my car sans coat. I was wearing a simple longsleeve pullover! No hat! No gloves! I was reckless! I didn't care! I revelled in the sense of danger! Ha!
Eh. It rarely gets that cold here in NC, but even when it does, I'm leave the house in shorts/flip flops. If its cold I wear a hoodie + hat, maybe even gloves. If I'm going to be outside for an extended period of time, that's different. Just going from one place to another, outside though? berkeley pants.

This wasn't just popping out. These kids were walking down the road as the side walk was burried under 2 feet of snow plowed off the road. I was teenage dick swinging at it's 'finest'
I said the same thing yesterday. It went from 11degrees to 30-ish, and I wasnt really cold.
It was kinda freaky. I guess that's like what happens to people that actually get a winter each year. 30 is warm compared to single digits( or colder ).
houston didn't get nearly as cold as the rest of the country but i was walking the dog in upper 20's with a sweatshirt, jeans and flip flops, today it was in the 40s and i didn't even wear a jacket.
Until I had to wear a uniform I wore shorts most of the year. As long as I had a sweatshirt and gloves I was usually ok.
It's a kid - cultural thing; yeah I'm freezing my ass off but I look good.
To a shorts wearing kid: "Your not cool, you're down right chilli, and chilli ain't never been cool.
-45 wind chill 3 days ago, today's +30 felt like it was balmy, that was a 75 degree swing after all
Not just a "kid-cultural thing." 35 degrees feels berkeleying tits compared to 5 degrees and windy as berkeley. And I run a little hot anyway.
