My wife's grandfather was ousted from Cuba in 1957. Left his 3 businesses, and arrived here with only the clothes on his back.
We have nothing to gain by keeping the embargo, nor by lifting it. Cuba has nothing to offer us.
Cuba is still a communist regime, and the Castros are still very much in control. They control all the economic factors so well that anything that goes into the country will go into their pockets. Period. There will be no trickle down effect for the people, and no cool little eco tourist businesses or B&B's. The government owns it all.
Additionally, Cubans are WAAY too poor to buy our stuff.
The only gain in this scenario is a political one. Obama and Castro both see political opportunities for themselves.
Pure unadulterated politics, that's all.
