So my friend and I are both dating older girls, by one year. They live off campus, and get to eat real food; we live on campus and eat muck flavored crap. As such, we mooch off of them quite a bit, and decided to make them dinner.
He knows how to make a garlic chicken recipe thats pretty good.
I know how to make garlic bread thats pretty good.
Is this a culinary no-no? Garlic with garlic? Not that the girlfriends would really mind, but we're just wondering here.
If they can't appreciate a home-cooked meal, even if the pairing is not ideal, well, you know.
Personally, I could have a garlic entree, garlic side, garlic dessert and garlic beverage, but then I like garlic a lot.
You could also quite easily sub out the garlic for another strong aromatic in one of the recipes (the chicken would be easiest) and probably be just fine.

As long as you pair it with a nice garlic vodka, I think it will be fine.
Don't forget the garlic potatoes
My favorite Roast Chicken recipe:

Thank me later

My brother is a retired chef, and he has a saying:
"A kitchen without a proper garlic press is just another room in the house."
Look up a recipe for horseradish mashed potatoes. And for the love of all that is holy, leave the skins on and leave them a bit chunky. Texture is key.
Another favorite is to gut some ripe tomatoes, fill them with some nice creamed spinach (homemade) then crumble blue cheese over the top and throw under the broiler.
seriously, dude, they're college betties. a bucket o wings and a case o beers gets it done.

We know that. We do that quite often. At least once every two weeks, more if you forgo the wings.
I let the other guy take control, he's doin everything except dessert. Because he wanted to have a fruitcake he could get for free from a bakery. Ugh.
I made a really easy Ice Cream Cake, it took me a total of fifteen minutes.
I personally would for-go any garlic recipe. Cooking for them will likely stir up some , uh, feelings and garlic breath on anybody doesn't make for the best nookie.
Roast chicken FTW......
Melt 1 stick of butter and 1 tsp. of Tabasco together, spoon it on bread and broil it. Tasty and they'll think you're clever.
Spend some time cruising the "Go to recipe" thread.

Watch Alton Brown on the Food Networks "Good Eats". Its like the Grassroots Motorsports of Food. Really. One of my favorite TV shows-and personalities.
