E36 M3, try the last two months! It used to cost ~$5 to ship a few Hot Wheels first class, now it's $9.79 as the *lowest* damn price. Berkeley those thieves!
~$5 is a broken business model. I'm not even sure $9.79 is actually reasonable, depending on population density, tracking quality expectations, climate, etc. You know how much money they were losing, right? We've been living in make believe since the late 80's as far as shipping rates. Happy to see a correction.

when you pay someone $60+ an hr to walk down a street ya, you can't make $$$ at $5 a delivery (and yes my Uncle who retired from the USPS more than a decade ago was making that much an hr on some days (want to say it was when he was OT and on a holiday... but still)

the entire country of Panama was based on PO boxes... if you wanted it to your house you used DHL, fedex, or UPS...

while I was a military brat all of our mail went to a PO box

I don't see why we need mail delivered 6 days a week...

I also don't recall the last time I received decent service at a post office, they are never polite, helpful or resemble anything of a customer service experience that you expect from a successful private business.

Still, $40 to ship a bike chain a few states over is too much. I spent over $5000 shipping with Canada post last year. I think I have a good idea what it should cost to ship something. When a customer ships me a cylinder head from the US, it's now costing him $75-$85. When I ship it back via Canada post, I pay $40-$50, and Canada post is typically a money making entity. I got a price to ship some stickers here from PA yesterday. $20 for 1 sticker, and $30 for a sprocket that weighs less than a pound. USPS is broken

seems like stickers could be "shipped" in a normal envelope ... shouldn't cost $20 .... I've shipped many packages with USPS that weighed in higher than you're saying and it has never cost that much .... at least in the US to others in the US ... maybe the extra cost is inter country ripoff
