So sorry to see this. My dad has been gone nearly 20 years, and I still have moments where I think, "I need to tell Dad about this" or "Wow, I really need to call." I think all good dads leave that conversation open. Condolences on your loss.

This..... Margie is so right on this!!! I miss my dad so much. The gut punch you feel will get better as time goes on. You just got to trust those of us that are in the club of having lost a parent on this one. I am sure you are having a hard time believing me at the moment but you will feel better.
I'm so sorry for your family's loss.

So sorry to hear about that.
I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I can only imagine.
My condolences. If you need to rant and rave, or just ramble on, we're here.
Condolences to you and your family. Sucks losing a parent.
Crap. Tonight I will raise a glass to his memory.
If you care to share his first name, I'd love to toast to....

John (NMI) Harding
US Army 1965-1969
Awesomest Dad ever 1983-2024
Awesomest Grandpa ever 2003-2024
He went by "Jack", and my name is also John. The running joke has always been that you don't want to greet my dad too loudly in an airport, as they get a bit upset when someone yells "HI, JACK!!!".
He told the nurses that joke on Friday; it was perfectly on brand for my dad. Cracking wise until the end...
As Dean noted, you certainly will never forget your dad, or the pain his loss causes, but the pain will subside as time goes on, the memories survive to be enjoyed for ever more.

Unfortunately, due to my previous occupation, I am no stranger to loss and grief...
I am thankful that he is no longer suffering and is at peace.
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad, sounds like he had a great sense of humor, even to the end. Will be thinking of you and your family as you go through this.
I am sorry to hear of your loss.
Nothing but love and good vibes, my man.
Rest well, Jack. Thank you for your selfless service to the nation, and thank you for being father to a fellow GRMer, and grandfather to his next generation.
Congrats on laying down your suffering, Jack, and know that you have a lot of people down here thinking that the world is a better place because you were in it.
I'm not a military man, so I won't disrespect with a salute. I'll simply hoist this can and say "cheers."

It's really difficult to type through tears, but here I am, crushing it.
Thank you all, it means a great deal to me. If ever we meet in person, I'll buy you all drinks.

Are you sure? I drink some pretty nice scotch lol
My heart breaks for you dad's 79, and my best friend. I can't imagine what you're going through, but will keep you and your family in my prayers.
It always saddens me to see this kind of post of the board but the community response is always so warming. I hope you feel that warmth.
I haven't lost a parent but I do know that the knee jerk reaction to call someone you loved dearly to tell them about something they would love to hear about never goes away. When it happens to me I try to take it as a reason to think of all the good times.
Condolences from my family to yours.
Just keep crushing it.
