Another musician lost. He might be a bit obscure today, but Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks was a really great band back in the '70s, a blend of blues, jazz and humor.
I was just talking about this with a coworker. There seems to be a harvest of talent from Earth this year.
He was still touring up I until a year or so ago. I would see him with The Hot Licks listed at some of the concert venues I frequent here in Southern New England, although I never attended a performance. He last performed locally at Bridge Street Live in Collinsville,CT in 2014, but had to cancel a show at the Narrows Center in Fall River, MA, last August. That was probably due to his illness.
I heard "I Scare Myself" on the radio yesterday evening. Hoisted an imaginary beer in Dan's honor.
